Sonnets To Orpheus I, 3 by R. M. Rilke translated by H. Landman A god can do it. How do you expect a man to squeeze on through the lyre and follow? His mind is torn. Where heartways intersect, you won't find any temple to Apollo. True singing, as you teach it, isn't wanting, not wooing anything that can be won; no, Singing's Being. For the god, not daunting. But when are we? And when will he then turn into our being all the Earth and Stars? It isn't that you love, child, even if the …
Come join us! We attend movies, live theater, opera, concerts, and other events together, without going into Boston. We may eat together (inexpensively) before or after to discuss. Possibilities include the Metropolitan Opera's live HD simulcasts in Rockport, or live theater at the Gloucester Stage Company, or movies at the Cabot Theater in Beverly. New ideas are welcome! Our purpose is to build community around the performing arts on the North Shore, and to make like-minded friends.
People who are interested is going to hear live opera, discussing operas and/or singers, sharing dinners where the discussion is centered on the performing arts, and/or singing/performing opera (I direct such a group in Nashua, NH). This group is also interested in attending classical music concerts, plays, museums, etc, in the Greater Boston area.

We will usually be meeting after performances, sometimes before, and occasionally during. Pre- and post-performance activities (lectures, receptions, parties, etc) are usually part of the meetup itself, so be sure to check the deta …

This meetup is for young people in their 20s and 30s to get together and go see some great theatre in the city. Boston is home to many talented, fantastic theatre companies, including the Speakeasy, the Zeigeist, the Huntington, ArtsEmerson and many others. We'll mainly focus on small companies instead of the larger touring shows such as those that come to the Opera House, but we'll do some of those as well.
